ABOUT ART SANCTUARY

Art Sanctuary is a result – and a happy consequence – of the encounter and meeting between Norwegian artist Tone Aanderaa www.tone-aanderaa.com/ and Ignace Clarysse, Belgian, IT expert, project manager and content-builder www.ignace-clarysse.com/

In 2009 Art Sanctuary arranged 'The Belgian-Norwegian Collaboration'; 12 artists from Norway, The Netherlands, and Belgium, meeting in 2 large exhibitions at HARDANGER FOLKEMUSEUM and HARDANGER KULTURGALLERI

In 2010 Art Sanctuary published two collections of poems by Tone Aanderaa;

'PUST; Fugler Puster Annerledes' ('BREATH; Birds Breathe Differently') and 'Poe-etiske voggesanger – epistler fra et mørkt fastland' ('Poe-Ethical Lullabies – Epistles From a Dark Mainland'

In 2010 Art Sanctuary also hosted The Encounter between Tone Aanderaa and musician Nicky Bendix http://www.nickybendix.com/; a collaboration with paintings/art and music evolving together.

20 artists from Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, exhibiting in a large and beautiful garden, at Station 14, Ste-Marie-Geest, Jodoigne, Belgium.

The Undercurrent

There are moments, in everyday situations, in dreams, and seemingly always unexpected, when all seems to crystallize, come together in timlessness. The present owns both past and future, and memories and longings are the same. Time and space, together with emotions and thoughts, form combinations. and my painting is stimulated by a need to 'translate' the experience and the questions that arise. There is a strong sensation of what I call 'being grounded', i.e. being present in the present; Or falling in love, again, with life. And with that come paradoxes of beauty and pain.

It is a search for the undercurrent, as the painting both foretells and remembers.'

Living is a constant process of interaction, mentally and physically striving to survive, to die, and to dream. That is the framework, as is language, culture, and heritage. We are born into structures, through and with which we evolve. And everywhere are borders, visible, and invisible, to refer to, stay within, approach, and cross. Edges, as divisions and transitions.

The ART SANCTUARY - The History - 'Virtual'' and 'real'

2007; Art Sanctuary - in SL
After initially being started in the skies above Hardangerfjord, SL, Art Sanctuary rapidly evolved into a shared vision between the artist Tone Aanderaa (aka)Raspirit Heron and SL content creator and scripter WieBenIk Beaumont/project manager Ignace Clarysse;
Tone Aanderaa's) RL paintings were being transformed into an environment; with the moods and atmospheres characteristic in her imagery.
The paintings which the site was based on were also exhibited throughout the site - a fairytale-like island with 'Castle of Golden Apples' (a nine story high castle filled with poems and images), Frog Castle (where her more nature-inspired paintings are shown), and Sun Flower House, Magical apple trees and gates, a chariot pulled by sea horses, and many more SL inspired creations.

The ART SANCTUARY INFO group rapidly grew into a whole community attending innumerable openings and events.

In 2008 Art Sanctuary gradually moved into RL
Tone Aanderaa moved part of her painting activity to Belgium –

In 2009 resulting in 'Tone Aanderaa Encounters....' 12 artists from Belgium, The Netherlands, and Norway, in 2 large exhibitions, shown at Hardanger folkemuseum and Hardanger Kulturgalleri, Norway.
- 2 collections of poems by Tone Aanderaa were published;'Poe-etiske voggesanger – epistler fra et mørkt fastland' ('Poe-Ethical Lullabies – Epistles From a Dark Mainland') and 'PUST; Fugler puster annerledes' ('BREATH; Birds Breathe Differently')

In 2009 Tone Aanderaa encountered Nicky Bendix' music; the start of a new and inspiring collaboration; 'LIMINAL DREAM' - with its first collection of videos being presented in 2010.

- And in 2011 Art Sanctuary's 'Enchanted Garden' OFFICIALLY OPENED; 20 artists from Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, exhibiting in a large and beautiful garden, at Station 14, Ste-Marie-Geest, Jodoigne, Belgium.
