Giovanni Gelmi - returning to 'The Enchanted Garden'

We are very pleased to welcome this artist back to the garden;
Giovanni Gelmi (B) is a master - in making metal dance!
Not just are his lines so full of grace and elegance, but with a bit of movement in the air, his sculptures actually do dance!

“ Ce qui frappe dans le travail de Gelmi, c'est l'éclectisme de ses œuvres, mais également la grande dextérité du soudeur – “ (Extrait – Lucien Rama)

Johild Mæland - 'Wire Drawings'

Art Sanctuary Welcomes Johild Mæland

(Norway)
a master of the old decorative painting techniques, she has restored and renewed  many old walls and interiors of public and private buildings in Norway.
The last years she has brought some of the old patterns and shapes into a whole new dimension: her new work with stainless steel wire – a slow and meditative process, creating ‘wire drawings’.

Veerle De Ridder - Duality of Glass

Art Sanctuary Welcomes

Veerle De Ridder

(Belgium)

'Golden future'

"My choice of glass as a medium of expression has not come about through careful consideration but lies purely with the intriguing and attractive power of this material.
Glass is a material that was discovered by coincidence centuries ago and ever since has been used to create innumerable objects, utensils as well as art, of which millions have survived the test of time.
Although it is a very breakable and brittle material, artists, designers and industry find more and more applications for the use of glass.
For me glass inspires, seduces, challenges and teaches.
What fascinates me most is the duality of glass. Glass can be used in unlimited ways to fashion and manufacture objects while still maintaining a very fragile nature.
Nature”, the essence of all life on this earth, is to me an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the creation of glass objects.
The influence of a glass object, functional as well as plastic, is often so big and can be so enriching
… that I always enjoy accepting the challenge."
