Giovanni Gelmi - returning to 'The Enchanted Garden'

We are very pleased to welcome this artist back to the garden;
Giovanni Gelmi (B) is a master - in making metal dance!
Not just are his lines so full of grace and elegance, but with a bit of movement in the air, his sculptures actually do dance!

“ Ce qui frappe dans le travail de Gelmi, c'est l'éclectisme de ses œuvres, mais également la grande dextérité du soudeur – “ (Extrait – Lucien Rama)

Johild Mæland - 'Wire Drawings'

Art Sanctuary Welcomes Johild Mæland

(Norway)
a master of the old decorative painting techniques, she has restored and renewed  many old walls and interiors of public and private buildings in Norway.
The last years she has brought some of the old patterns and shapes into a whole new dimension: her new work with stainless steel wire – a slow and meditative process, creating ‘wire drawings’.

To learn more about Johild Mæland, please visit her presentation at Harding Puls
Harding Puls is a forum of artists of all discilplines situated in the Hardanger region, Norway.

Veerle De Ridder - Duality of Glass

Art Sanctuary Welcomes

Veerle De Ridder

(Belgium)

'Golden future'

"My choice of glass as a medium of expression has not come about through careful consideration but lies purely with the intriguing and attractive power of this material.
Glass is a material that was discovered by coincidence centuries ago and ever since has been used to create innumerable objects, utensils as well as art, of which millions have survived the test of time.
Although it is a very breakable and brittle material, artists, designers and industry find more and more applications for the use of glass.
For me glass inspires, seduces, challenges and teaches.
What fascinates me most is the duality of glass. Glass can be used in unlimited ways to fashion and manufacture objects while still maintaining a very fragile nature.
Nature”, the essence of all life on this earth, is to me an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the creation of glass objects.
The influence of a glass object, functional as well as plastic, is often so big and can be so enriching
… that I always enjoy accepting the challenge."

Anne Notebaert; The perishable from the imperishable

Anne Notebaert:
(Belgium)
"The perishable from the imperishable life find its way into her glass; Pearls referring to the sublime, to the eternal."

"For me glass inspires, seduces, challenges and teaches.

What fascinates me most is the duality of glass. Glass can be used in unlimited ways to fashion and manufacture objects while still maintaining a very fragile nature.

'Schelpenschotel'

"I love the beautiful, the strong, the pure -  the power and strength of life.
 - It is the loss of these qualities in human life and nature which captures me;
This what I try to express in my work; with glass -  and with wood;
preferably wood which has drifted for a while in the water or the sea.
My work is about new growth; slowly from death to new life -  of transience to permanence.
The eternal ebb and flow of the rhythm of the sea is my second inspiration."

'Zeevuur'
Nature”, the essence of all life on this earth, is to me an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the creation of glass objects. "

Ingen har varda den vegen...

Ingen
har varda den vegen
du skal gå
ut i det ukjende,
ut i det blå.

Dette er din veg.
Berre du
skal gå han.
Og det er
uråd å snu.

Og ikkje vardar du vegen,
du hell.
Og vinden stryk ut ditt far
i aude fjell.
